The movie of the Outsiders and the book version were refreshingly similar. The accuracy of many movies to their book originals is something that is too often overlooked in modern movie making. The Outsiders in the fact that they remained true to the book was great.
The major difference between the movie and book was that the book is narrated by Ponyboy while in the movie we miss out on some of Ponyboy's thoughts and his background knowledge of some of the characters.
One flaw I thought was the placement of the music. Its appearence I thought was misplaced and hurt the ambiance of the film.
I thought the teenage actors were a bit weak in their roles. I really didn't believe that they were actually in the position they are set in in the script.
I'd rate it at about 2.5 stars although to some people my rating would be tremendously low. This is only because the actual story didn't really pull me in at any point. I suggest it to people learning about society and money.
